Film: Scrapple
In a nostalgic re-creation of the 70’s, Friends of KGLT will screen Scrapple, a film that could have featured Bozeman. Called “the ski-bum's version of Easy Rider” by Men’s Journal, a fictitious mountain town is on the verge of becoming a major destination resort circa 1978. Filmed in Telluride, Colorado, Scrapple is an easy going, slice-of-life film capturing mountain town living, friends, good times, music, and an endearing piglet in a lead role.
From one review…
“Scrapple follows a summer in the life of ski bums in the fictional town of Ajax, Colorado, in the late ’70’s. It is not a movie about skiing but rather, a movie about life: overcoming pain, love, friends, finding your place, having a good time, music... It’s the story of people working enough to live in a ski town before big business took over.”
The Taj Mahal-produced soundtrack is a Scrapple highlight. Taj Mahal re-recorded his favorite songs and added originals. Taj also added tracks by Sam Bush, JJ Cale, John Martyn, Cymande, Widespread Panic, and more.
Doors will open at 6:30 pm for mingling with a no-host bar and $10 dinner buffet by the Emerson Grill. The movie screening will begin at 7:30. Tickets are $8 and are available at Cactus Records, Movie Lovers and at the door.
70s attire and vintage KGLT t-shirts are encouraged!
Cost: $8
