Symphony: Prayer for Peace Triumphant
Maestro Savery caps off his 20th anniversary season with a prayer for peace, and a piece that represents the ultimate triumph over adversity.
With World War II looming on the horizon, Ralph Vaughan Williams turned to a combination of scripture and the poetry of Walt Whitman to compose an optimistic appeal for peace. Featuring the Bozeman Symphony debut of soprano Abigail Dueppen and the return of baritone Stephen Bryant this promises to be our most profound performance of the year.
For a grand finale we'll conclude the season with the most famous four notes in musical history, and experience the joy of the human spirit's victory over the forces of fate with Beethoven's masterful 5th Symphony.
