Reading: Your Soul at a Crossroads by Valerie Harms

Distinctly Montana magazine editor Valerie Harms will read from and talk about her latest book, Your Soul at a Crossroads (With Steps You Can Take Not to Lose It) on Thursday, February 20 at Elk River Books.

Harms is a Bozeman-based writing teacher and consultant who describes her work as "inspiration and memoir" rooted in the philosophies of Anais Nin, Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung and James Hillman, among others. In addition to Crossroads, her books include Dreaming of Animals: Dialogue between Self and World, The Inner Lover: Using Passion as a Way to Self-Empowerment, two children's books, and Tryin' to Get to You, the story of her encounters with Elvis Presley.

Of her latest book, Harm writes that she "enables readers to confidently choose the right path when up against many choices in their lives. [She] provides exercises on relationships, work and health that uncover the spiritual wisdom rooted in the individual's soul."

Reviewer Doris Norrgard praises Harms' work for its insight and perspective: "Many of my more painful memories have now been beautifully framed in by the thoughts of Valerie Harms," she writes for the C.G. Jung Page. "Without moralizing she discusses the problems of our love life as they occur in reality…"

Harms' reading will be followed by a reception and book signing. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place at Elk River Books, 115 E. Callender St. in Livingston at 7 p.m.
