A double dose of musical talent will take to The Ellen stage on Sunday, January 26th with the arrival of Sarah Lee Guthrie and Johnny Irion. Talk about great bloodlines – Johnny's uncle is author Thomas Steinbeck (son of John Steinbeck). Sarah Lee is the youngest daughter of Arlo Guthrie and granddaughter of Woody Guthrie. Together, they are a match made in harmonious heaven, combining Irion's love of rock and blues along with Guthrie's roots of folk and country.
Since teaming together in 2000, Guthrie and Irion have made a name for themselves on the music scene, having appeared at a number of prestigious festivals including the granddaddy of them all, the Newport Folk Festival. Other appearances at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the Hillside Festival and many more have garnered rave reviews. In between appearances at theatres and performing arts centers, the couple also makes it a point to perform at as many schools as possible, spreading their music to the next generation. When Sarah Lee and Johnny are not performing on their own, they tour nationally with Arlo Guthrie, opening the show, and then joining him onstage in their family concert series, recently accompanying him at Carnegie Hall with Pete Seeger and The Dillards. It's safe to say that this engaging acoustic duo has thrilled thousands of audiences "from California to the New York Island."
The concert on Sunday, January 26 begins at 7 PM, with beer, wine and other refreshments available in The Ellen lobby starting at 6 PM. Reserved seating is available for $19.00. There is a $1.00 Ellen Restoration Fund added to each ticket and a $1.25 processing fee per order. As this concert is sure to sell-out, it is recommended to get tickets early at www.theellentheatre.com or by calling The Ellen box office at 406-585-5885.
