Virtual UN Day Event

The Montana State University student chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America will host a virtual event in honor of United Nations Day. The event will take place 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and feature guest speakers highlighting the role of the U.N. in recognition of its 75th anniversary. It is free and open to the public.

“I am so proud to support this group of student leaders on MSU’s campus, and I’m pleased they decided to host this U.N. Day event virtually,” said Janelle Rasmussen from the Office of International Programs and the club's adviser. “The hope is that it will give increased access to the opportunity for those who might not have typically been able to join.”

The first speaker of the night will be Ali Hoffman, senior campaign associate for the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign, who will discuss the goals and mission of the U.N. Following her is Tayo Rockson, author of the book “Use Your Difference to Make a Difference.” Rockson will share his thoughts on developing adaptability and resilience in uncertain times and draw on his personal experiences.

"We are excited to host Tayo’s talk. He will offer a new approach to going through life by using and developing existing skills,” said Gallage Nipun Ariyaratne, UNA-USA club president. “He will present a step-by-step process to becoming a recognized agent of change.”

The event is co-sponsored by the Office of International Programs. It will be held virtually through Zoom as well as livestreamed on the UNA-USA at MSU Facebook page.

Registration for the event is required and can be done at https://www.montana.edu/cope/rsvp/front-end/rsvp.php?unique_id=5f74e55f7288f5f74e55f728cc
