Save The Snow! Climate Summit 2019 Save The Snow! Climate Summit- Dillon, Montana is an event focused on bringing awareness to Montana's snowpack, and the long-term implications of a warming climate on the winter snow sport industry, along with ranching, farming, tourism, and forest/land/water management. Our goal is to provide expertise to local stakeholders/community members on the current snowpack and trends over the past century from snow courses and long-term context from tree-rings and lake sediment cores, future projections of climate on water resources, as well as local solutions for climate resilience. Through local conversations and networks, we have identified and selected people who either work on snowpack, hydrology, climate, or has a passion for snow. We are requesting the people that are involved give a short talk in their area of expertise relevant to the topics listed above. We will be kicking off the event on March 14th, 2019 at Maverick Mountain Ski Area. We are inviting anyone and everyone to be on the snow at Maverick Mountain skiing or snowboarding (people attending are required to purchase a lift ticket). We want to share knowledge and start a conversation about snowpack in the area, the current and future impacts of climate change on the region, and how to build climate resilience in our community. On March 15th we will be at The University of Montana Western – Lewis and Clark Room from 9AM-4PM listening and learning about subjects mentioned above. At 5PM there will be an Après Party at the Patagonia Outlet with live music by Kailey Smith, beverages and snacks. This is a free event at the University of Montana Western.
