Film: A River Below

On Thursday, January 4th, at 7pm at the Emerson Center, The Bozeman Doc Series presents the Montana premiere of the award-winning new documentary, A River Below.

One of the most critically acclaimed documentaries of the year, A River Belowexamines the efforts of two conservationists to use the national media to protect the Amazon pink river dolphin, only to discover the consequences of their actions come with a high price. When footage of indigenous villagers illegally killing a dolphin emerges, the tangled story behind the images calls into question the activists’ tactics. As dramatic and multilayered as any fiction film, A River Below captures the Amazon in all its complexity and uncovers a scandal that has no simple solution.

“Díaz's sublime cinematography and the way [director] Grieco teases out the knotty narrative make for a haunting exploration of an ethical morass, where vilification is easy, but deconstructing power much more difficult.” Village Voice

“Gripping and unforgettable.” The Playlist
