World Refugee Week - Healthcare & the Mediterranean Refugee Crisis

World Refugee Day is celebrated globally on June 20. Gallatin Refugee Connections, in partnership with several Bozeman-based community organizations, will celebrate World Refugee Day by hosting events to engage the local community on the global and local refugee dynamic. Events are free and open to the public. For more information visit our Facebook page. Join us for an evening of Mediterranean cuisine and a discussion about the global refugee dynamic with a focus on health care in refugee camps. The Community Cafe will serve a Mediterranean themed meal from 5 - 7 p.m. followed by a presentation at 7 p.m. led by Dr. Katie Woods, a Bozeman-based family physician working at the Montana State University student health service. Over the past 2 years, Dr Woods has provided medical care to refugees fleeing the Syrian civil war in Lesvos, Greece and northern Jordan. Dr. Woods will discuss her work and the perspectives of the refugees she met in this humanitarian crisis.
