Auditions for “Spring Awakening”

The MSU School of Film and Photography announces auditions for “Spring Awakening,” a rock musical by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik. Performances will be in April, 2017, at MSU’s Black Box Theater. Auditions are Monday and Tuesday, October 24th and 25th, 7-9pm at the Black Box. Please prepare up to 64 bars or a verse and chorus of a song in the style of the musical. This musical is a rock musical, therefore we are looking for strong voices that fit into the rock/pop genre. We are not looking for musical theater style singing nor classical voices. The ability to read music is not required. Piano accompaniment will be provided; auditionees please bring sheet music, if possible. This musical is rated “R” with some adult themes and language. Cold readings of scenes from the play will also be part of the audition. Ideally, all roles being cast at this time will look high school age. Familiarity with the script and music is helpful. Auditions are open to everyone.
