The Strains Ensemble, flutist Elizabeth Lantz, saxophonist Kyle Hutchins, and pianist Shannon Wettstein Sadler will perform a concert of compositions by Charles Nichols. Included are pieces for solo flute, solo alto saxophone, solo piano, and flute and alto saxophone duo, where the instruments are processed, sampled, and looped with computer programming. Rounding out the program are three movement for flute, soprano saxophone, and piano, inspired by hiking destinations on the Appalachian Trail.
