Stace Lindsay's The Courage to Make a Difference: Recognizing the Small Work in the Great Work

International consultant and entrepreneur Stace Lindsay will discuss his path from growing up in Montana to becoming a Rhodes Scholar and making an impact around the world in a free lecture at 4:10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, in the Procrastinator Theater at Montana State University. “The Courage to Make a Difference: Recognizing the Small Work in the Great Work” is hosted by the MSU Leadership Institute and is an MSU Honors Presents program. A Q&A session and reception will be held after the lecture. Lindsay grew up in Billings and attended MSU briefly before dropping out to live and work in Central America. He eventually earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. He now owns his own consulting company, has served on the faculty at several leading business schools and works as a senior moderator at the Aspen Institute, a nonprofit focused on leadership and the exchange of ideas. He is an entrepreneur and author of “Plowing the Sea: Nurturing the Hidden Sources of Growth in the Developing World.” Lindsay co-founded the Central American Leadership Initiative. “What began as a journey to alleviate poverty and suffering in Central America in the 1980s has evolved into a series of business and social ventures to try to make the world a better place,” said Lindsay, who is now based in Bozeman. In addition to discussing his personal journey, Lindsay will discuss how he has found that literature can play a critical role in unleashing global leaders’ imaginations, building meaningful relationships across strong political divides and fostering the courage for leaders to recognize and act upon their deeper sense of purpose. “Lindsay’s message will appeal to those searching for a way to dive deep into their passions and those who are in search for their major,” said Hannah Monaghan, MSU Leadership Institute student staffer. “It is refreshing to hear that the small work each of us does can lead to something bigger, as Mr. Lindsay has done.” Presented by the MSU Leadership Institute, Lindsay’s lecture is also sponsored by ASMSU, the Office of the Provost, the Honors College, the College of Letters and Science and the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship. While the lecture is free and open to all, although space is limited. Free tickets are available at https://tinyurl.com/StaceLindsayAtMontanaState. Ticket holders will be seated first.
