BFS Screens 'Collette'

Kiera Knightly fights for authorship and sexual expression in the handsomely decorated, costumed, and scored 'Colette.' After marrying a successful Parisian writer known commonly as "Willy" (Dominic West), Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Keira Knightley) is transplanted from her childhood home in rural France to the intellectual and artistic splendor of Paris. Soon after, Willy convinces Colette to ghostwrite for him, penning a semi-autobiographical novel about a witty and brazen country girl named Claudine, sparking a bestseller and a cultural sensation. Based on a true story, Colette's fight over creative ownership and gender roles drives her to overcome societal constraints, revolutionizing literature, fashion and sexual expression. As a girl with spirit and talent transforming into a ferocious woman, Knightley gives one of her best performances, Rolling Stone Magazine writes; "This is the firebrand Colette that Knightley plays with every fiber of her being. She's something to see." As directed by Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice, Quinceanera) with lush cinematography by Giles Nuttgen, Paris comes to life, scrumptiously decadent - and seedy - as Colette navigates the city's eclectic, gossipy social scene. Closed Caption and Visual Narration available. Rated R (for sexuality and nudity), the film runs 111 minutes.
