The rugged territory stretching across eastern Montana and western North Dakota has always been a challenging place to live. From the Native tribes, to the homesteaders, to the laborers who have come to the region in successive waves of oil development, its history has been one of dramatic economic booms and devastating busts.

This documentary film offers an intimate look into the diverse communities experiencing a boom—and bust—with an eye toward a history of economic turmoil and hardship. Join us for a free screening of the film followed by a conversation with the director and producer, Jessica Jane Hart, a professional photographer who grew up in Billings, Montana.
