The Dirt Farmers Debut CD Release Party

Bozeman's most eclectic grassroots string band, The Dirt Farmers, will celebrate the release of their "Dirt on the Tracks" CD on March 27 at the Filling Station in Bozeman.

The seven-piece band, which calls its musical style “paisley grass," has gained a following for its fun-loving mix of old school country, bluegrass, blues and rock, with the occassional slip into hip-hop. The band members, as unique as their song list, serve it all up with a smile on mandolin, banjo, guitar, fiddle and bass with vocal harmonies. Their bottom line, having a good time, also shows in originals penned by Hagerman and Fortier.

Stand-out 19-year-old guitarist/singer Kelly Hagerman fronts the band with Nate Fortier on mandolin, Bill Devine on dobro, Clink Dack on banjo, Austin Rehyer on fiddle, Shawna Lockhart on doghouse bass and Catey Lockhart on vocals.

The Dirt Farmers debut CD, Dirt on the Tracks, was recorded at Peak Recording Studio in Bozeman. The CD also features Mike Parsons on banjo and fiddle.

The CD release party begins at 9pm Mar. 27 at the Filling Station. $3 cover, with free CDs for the first 20 admissions. For info, visit facebook.com/dirtfarmers or email the dirtfarmers@gmail.com.
