April Cover Artist: Kirsten Kainz

Friday Apr. 1st, 2016

Kirsten Kainz is a metal artist and painter who works with what is at hand. In the case of her sculptures the medium is cast off scrap metal. She sees the potential she sees in lifeless objects and brings meaning to them. Her sculptures are made of metal which no longer performs its intended use, but still retains form and beauty. She welds the cast off pieces into whimsical and beautiful sculptures.

In her work you feel the spirit, strength, humor and honor of that which is wonderful in life. These works of art serve as a means to make present the aspects of our lives that we might otherwise pass by.

When Kainz is painting or sculpting her aim is to honor the spiritual and emotional side of life. For Kainz the pursuit to capture and emulate the true and wonderful of this world never ends.

Kirsten continues with the challenge of creating great art, including painting and sculpture while raising her four beautiful girls in Bozeman, MT. Her work is featured in public and private collections all around the Nation and is represented by several galleries. You can view her art locally on Main Street as part of the Gallatin Art Crossing public display project and at MAP Brewing. See more of her work at http://kirstenkainz.net and kainzpaintings.com
